Werribee Plaza Carpark Insanity
Published 1 year, 3 months ago in Shopping.I believe that the term “cut off your nose to spite your face” is appropriate here.
I, like many other Mums, dropped one child at kinder and popped up to Coles at the plaza to grab a few things a little before 9am on Monday morning. The car park was closed. ‘
Now for quite a while the plaza has been closing off large sections of the carpark prior to 9am but the undercover carpark outside coles is the latest addition. Security guards were there and I was informed it was to keep the shop employees from parking there to free up parking for the customers…of course customers weren’t allowed to park their either!
Now I’m sure safeway were thrilled as you could still park out the front of safeway and many people may have just gone there. I am stubborn and I waited the 10minutes til I was allowed to park my car. THEN I went to centre management to tell them exactly what I thought of their new car park policy.
I was given the number for the manager and advised to ring her. I completed my shopping then went home and rang. I was told she was actually AT Werribee not at the office I was given the number for. I left a message and now it is FRIDAY and no one has bothered to return my call.
Now I get that they don’t want the store employees to take up all the nearby parking but surely the customer comes first and closing the carparks outside the supermarkets which are open from early in the morning is just ridiculous. To further accent this - a number of Coles staff (somewhat disgruntled) stated they would move their cars when the carpark re-opened.
I was told by the security guard in attendance that they could not police car park limits. Why not? surely policing the car park limits would be a better option for all than closing the carpark!

They do this at Broadmeadows shopping centre too but usually only in the lead up to christmas.
It is a totally ridiculous situation ‘cos one of the points of getting to the shopping centre early is to beat the crowds and be able to get a carspace easily.
Surely if they are employing security guards to police it, they would be able to tell the difference between alot of the staff and customers, firstly as a number would be wearing uniforms and secondly, if the security guards were in attendance regularly they would get to recognise staff.
I usually go to Airport West instead when this starts occuring as they have basically the same shops but don’t have this stupid policy in place.
Well that sux ! I would have gone to Safeway just to spite Coles.
To be honest, I think the customer service of several large companies leaves a lot to be desired.
I emailed Westfield regarding the use of a sink as a toilet by a mother and her child (there was an available toilet 2 steps away), and of the requirement to clean the carpet in the childs holding area where the mother’s other child urinated….no reply.
I emailed a MAJOR department store with a product enquiry….never heard back. Went to my local branch of the same department store with the same enquiry and was told that only “2 of their stores might have the product I was after, or else I could check at Amcal”. WHAT THE ?? This eas even after I told the woman that my email had gone unanswered. What happened to “I’ll call another store for you to check” ??
customer service is a dying thing. That is why, as much as possible I go to strip shopping centres.
CENTRE MANAGMENT OF ALL SHOPPING CENTRES TAKE NOTICE THE TRENDS IN THE USA ARE SHOPPERS ARE DISERTING SHOPPING CENTRES AND GOING BACK TO STRIP SHOPPING, IN SOME CENTRES THIS IS HAPPENING
